It comes to an end... soon

And I'd give up forever to touch you
Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't want to go home right now

And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
Cause sooner or later it's over
I just don't want to miss you tonight

And I don't want the world to see me
Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything seems like the movies
Yeah you bleed just to know your alive

And I don't want the world to see me
Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

I don't want the world to see me
Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am

Some quote

Saw this at someone's friendster... I thought it was touching.

If a picture paints a thousand words,
Then why can't I paint you?
The words will never show
The you I've come to know

For SAGIs today...

Thinking about your relationships is not helpful today. You have to act on them.

While your focus has been on other people in your life lately, thinking completely about your current relationships is not going to be possible today. But that is a good thing -- it's time to get yourself refocused on who you are alone, as an individual. You may be running the risk of losing yourself in the noise of socializing. Ask yourself honestly if you are working so hard on friendships and relationships with other people to avoid working hard on yourself.

Idiotic Romance in Sagittarius

Some one told me...

One day when he stops running, he is trapped... or there is preparation for another witless runaway process? ... whether it's a runaway process on hyperreality or a breathless commitment, the feeling of caring or being cared in comfort, or simply for the sake of running away...

If this will happen, let it happen quick... An affair that will never be stable, sometimes, is too comfortable to commit.

This I am sure...
I am averse to going to wedding dinners.

The man who makes 'The Simpsons' sing - CNN.com

The story is about Alf Clausen, who never knows what to expect.

Sometimes it's an arrangement of a classic melody, such as the theme to "The Great Escape." Sometimes it's a parody of a show tune, such as "The Monorail Song" (a "Music Man" pastiche) or several numbers from "My Fair Lady." Sometimes it's an original piece, such as "The Stonecutters Song." Sometimes it's basic instrumental interludes.

And sometimes, it's all of the above. After all, we're talking about "The Simpsons."
...Read more at CNN

Watch a slide show of Clausen and his work

This is a posting about me visiting the Simpsons scoring stage and Alf, a few days before I leaft LA - Visiting Alf Clausen @ The Simpsons session. Great composers, successful people in many places except those from our homeland, are suprisingly helpful. They never give you a bitch-slap look because you are new, they won't show off their pride... I am not saying all people outside are one kind and all people here are bla bla bla, If you have never experienced shut your ass up.... I mean in general. Alf probably is one of my heros since I was a little boy. I've never thought I could meet him, definitely not dreaming of being his acquaintance, getting his advice and his compliment and critics on my work, his encouragement... I almost got blast everytime I met someone really great or even some freshees like me.... Sad that I've never felt that way when I met those big names here, except people here who are doing indie and who doing their own shit and not pleasing anyone nor public.

Wait I gotta rephrase what I said... I am not saying those big-name I met in Malaysia are successful thou. They are not, b**ch! but they are the one who monopoli the market here, they are people who make music on the radio, the people who play the politics, the gang who run the industry here... and those so-called idols you see everyday on paper are just puppets. sad for them. The standard is so low, public awareness is just not there... who to blame? Anyway, who cares? Glad to see some good musicians carrying their balls to do music. Dudes, you all have my gratitude and respect... and better do well!!!

Damn, I don't know what I am venting... duh... OK... I am extreme. this is not rambling anymore... raving! It's not that bad... There are still many great people around here, you will hear them, just the matter when. But YOU gotta open up your ears. You can't use your eyes to listen.

Summer Dawn

I thought of my grand ma everytime I listened to this old work of mine. I wrote this for a class I took in UCLA, in summer 2 years ago around the same time as now, september, summer, and was done on monday early morning. my 2nd year in LA when I did this, my 2nd summer in Westwood. The music was then used in a gig i was working on in December the same year.

If the plugin doesn't work, try this - http://web.mac.com/hfken/iWeb/Music/Scores_files/SummerDawn.mp3

I like dawn, waiting for the 1st of light of the day. I actually wrote this for my grandmother. It didn't take me too long to come out with the theme and scratch, because the thought was so strong.

The beginning child-like theme is me infront of my grandma, she likes to listen me on piano. the main theme with groove is describing each time at which daylight first begins.... getting brighter when it goes to piano improvising with the main theme. the middle part piano solo is all about my grandma, her kindness, tenderness... then comes back to dawn theme, finally back to me playing piano as a child for her.

My family was going back to my hometown to visit her 5 years ago. I decided to stay at the very last minute for a small project. I didn't sleep that night for this project. I completed the mixing just before dawn. When I step out the room for a cigarette, a sudden light made me blink... i thought of grandma at that very moment.

She passed away in that morning...

_______________

Ok.... enough with sentimental thought... before it gets a bit corny. Ok.. did this all in Reason. played it in one by one...
The main theme is made up with Cm9 Cm13 Cm9 FM7/C then 2nd time go to 3 weird chords (they're hella beautiful for me)
Development part is sentimental like - Cm Fm7 Bb7 EbM7 AbM7 DbM7 Dm7 G(b13)...
ps: actually sometimes when you see me doing the piano solo part, not most of the time... I mean sometimes laaa... that means either I was lazy, which has been seldom, or I was rushing out work and I was running out of time... so just Hantam la. LOL.
then back to main theme again.
The idea is pretty simple - Intro (free time), Main theme, Development (free time), Main theme, Recap of Intro (free time).

So far this is the one I played my heart the best at the time I was working.

Yew Chong's Performace @ Sedaya College

A friend who I respect a lot.

A touching real story. What should I say, I almost cried when I first watch the video. How could this worst happen to a talented musician...?

I finally met him Yew Chong, at his recital at Sedaya college.
He sometimes hardly hear what I say, he couldn't hear the lower range and high register notes when he played on the stage.... If this is the worst thing can ever happen to a musician and he manages to keep up, yet doing well and with pride.. why can't I, why can't everyone of you?

Yew Choong Cheong, a hearing impaired pianist working on his doctorate at West Virginia University, in a recital hall at the the Creative Arts Center on the Evansdale Campus of WVU.

New stuff

Check this out...
Music for James and Paul Way, tryout @ Paulway's

From LA - Hong Kong - KL.... Outro of the trill - 1. LA

Continuing from the previous post, these are not with my Thai peeps.... in the same farewell hangout but after the jam session with Ray Pizzi... I didn't do anything, just press the red button - record.

I curi curi post some short excerpts here. hehe, here you go...
Jamming session with Ray Pizzi, Kakutani Naoko and Matthew Witmer on viola, Chern Hwei on violin

Continue posting later.... at the LAX, in Hong Kong and back in KL..... a span of 3 days, a perfect outro, shoehorn's
journey came to the end.

Ok, now I continue...

After 2 days of insane recordings @ Pablo's and a crazily happening farewell, it finally came to this day... believe me, my last day in LA was a disaster. Wait... this was how it looked like at Pablo's where I sitting there 2 whole days, 2 fucking days nonstop for Mo's album and ADR (Voice over) Giovanni's film

PS: Chern Hwei rebuked me!!!! ok my mistake... As what the first comment said - Connie and Chern Hwei did the laundry for me in the late afternoon while giovanni was packing for me.... I forgot!!! ok?

Back to the last day. Woke up early did my laundry, a lot like a mountain, washed Fumi's car which I had been using for weeks, went to CITI bank to close my account, settled my credit card, went to Bank of america to inform them about my departure, went to UCLA to meet Minh and Rik (They helped me a lot in past), went to.... in short, I got home at 5pm. Keep in mind that my flight was at 12 midnight and I should be there at 9pm. 4 hours, believe me or not, trying to pack everything in 4 hours.... apparently, trying to pack and MOVE OUT from the apartment in 4 god damn hours, that was a disaster! and I finally released my frustration on Connie, poor connie, sorry... :(
There were about 7 people helping me out. Doreen, Connie, Giovanni, Chern Hwei, my 3 roommates, Nori, .... at one point Giovanni couldn't stand anymore and said, Ken you stay away. I'm the Boss, I will pack for you, don't see! Damn, all dumped in.
Anyway, Shoehorn's LA journey came to the end, a happy ending. I've got a bunch of soul mates, 3 very caring roommates - Fumi, Shioko, and Jessica, as well as my old roommate Alice... Alice, I miss you so much... looking at alice, she is just like me, a typical sagi, blur, messy (she is messy from outside, I'm inside). I had my very sweet Connie who I owe so much, my drinking and hangout cronies - Pablo and Nori, I miss you too much, I feel I've lost something very close here. Also Chai and Doreen who sent me and Chern hwei off at LAX... Doreen, I had words when I broke up with her, but I am glad that we became friends again, even closer I have to say, I am glad.... thanks Doreen.

Now, I so regret for not bring back a lot of things. I have only about 3 or 4 T-shirt in Malaysia, no jeans, one slack, one long sleeve, a pair of basketball shoes, some unders and socks... I left my old organizer there that holds lots of contacts and info, some of my music and mastercopies :(

The Gang - Connie, Ken, Chai, Doreen, Jessica, FRONT Chern Hwei and Shioko

Drinking KAKI Nori, this time I won't let you kiss

Thanks Connie

Doreen and I

Old-timers uh??

Bye LA, I will be back soon, putting together to be ready for another runaway.

Then soon, Chern hwei and I went on the flight with a very cute tall girl - SAPO Chin Chin :D

I continue tomorrow with our Hong Kong trip with SAPO and our days in KL.
This is SAPO
